The city of St. Catherine received Monday 67 tourists of various nationalities، including 46 Egyptians and 21 foreigners in the past 24 hours. All 67 tourists visited St. Catherine's Monastery، Mount Sinai، Saint Katherine Protectorate and Bedouin camps. Head of St. Catherine city Sayed Abdel Sadek said in a statement to reporters that the city depends on daily tourism، pointing out that the proportion of tourism vary from time to time and increases during vacations and holidays. Tourism officials expect an increase in the number of tourists visiting Egypt in the coming period، as European countries start to lift the flights ban to Sinai. European countries and the US have imposed a flights ban to Sinai، after a Russian civilian plane crashed in Sinai، killing all passengers and the flight crew members، in October 2015. The total number of tourists who visited Egypt reached 640179 tourists in February 2016، according to Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
