The ancient perfume box had been missing pieces but they have finally been found by a Scottish museum – confirming it is made by for royalty.

Intricate decorations on the box، held by the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh، reveal it was made for the granddaughter of Pharaoh Amenhotep II.

The ancient ruler reigned during Egypt's 18th Dynasty around 3،400 years ago.
The perfume box، made from cedar، ebony، ivory and gold، is decorated with a dwarf-like creature believed to a symbol of good luck and to help ward off evil spirits.

It is thought the box would have been buried alongside a group of ten princesses.

This comes as a mystery Ancient Egyptian coffin was opened for the first time.

But it was later revealed that errors were made and fragments of the box remained missing.

It was only after an art dealer acting on behalf of a private collector in London spotted a blog post about the box on the museum's website that the pieces were reunited.

The museum acquired the pieces for £20،000 and will publicly display the box in March.
