Egyptian football player and Italian club AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah contributed Thursday evening to his club’s victory over Spanish side Villarreal CF in the first-leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32.
Salah came off the bench to assist Bosnian international Edin Dzeko in scoring Roma’s second goal of the match، after Brazilian defender Emerson Palmieri grabbed his club’s first in the 32nd minute of the match.
Meanwhile، Dzeko went on to complete his hat-trick in the 79th and 86th minutes of the match، to guide Roma to a massive lead (4-0) at Villarreal’s Estadio de la Cerámica in Spain، before playing the second-leg at Roma’s Stadio Olimpico in Italy.
The Egyptian international helped guide AS Roma to second place in the Italian domestic league or Serie A، during current season 2016-2017. He also played a major role in leading his country’s national football team into the African Cup of Nations final، after an absence that lasted for three editions. He also led his country to top Group E of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Russia will host the 2018 FIFA World Cup، of which Egypt hopes to participate at and earn a place in the competition، by edging the likes of Uganda، Ghana and Congo in group E.
Egypt has played two group matches against Congo and Ghana، and succeeded in acquiring all six points from both matches، topping its group in the process.
