Cristiano Ronaldo struck a hat-trick to help Real Madrid reach the Champions League semi-finals and eliminate Bayern Munich، The Mirror reported.
The Portuguese striker reached a total of 101 goals in the competition، although Bayern were furious after his second goal was scored from a clearly offside position.
Bayern had the better of the early stages with Marcelo blocking a Thiago shot on the line and Arjen Robben firing the rebound into the side netting.
However Madrid hit back and Dani Carvajal lashed a shot inches wide before Jerome Boateng cleared a Sergio Ramos effort out from under the crossbar brilliantly and Toni Kroos fired over.
The visitors started the better in the second period too and after Marcelo cleared another Robben effort off the line، Casemiro fouled the Dutchman in the area and Robert Lewandowski converted the penalty. Everything changed in the space of a minute، with Cristiano Ronaldo heading home Casemiro’s cross in the 76th minute before Sergio Ramos put through his own net in bizarre circumstances in the 77th.
Arturo Vidal was sent off with five minutes to go for his second yellow card، harshly، tilting the tie in Madrid’s favour shortly before extra-time. And Madrid were lucky to have another decision go their way when Ronaldo slammed in from Ramos’ cross but was offside، before he added another after great work by Marcelo.
Marco Asensio scored a late individual goal to wrap up the game for the hosts.
