Egyptair have started operating flight carrying a total of 3050 would-be pilgrims heading to Mecca، as a part of the Cairo-Jeddah air bridge started early in March، The chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Safwat Musallam said on Friday.
Musallam said in a press statement، on Friday، that the company's flights would see a higher operating rate compared to the rest of the week، with 18 flights including 10 flights to Jeddah and 8 to Madinah carrying 3،050 passengers، about four times more than daily rates.
On Saturday، 16 flights are scheduled to take off from Cairo airport، Burj Al Arab airport with 3600 people on board for the lesser pilgrimage Umrah، the flights will be heading to Jeddah and Madinah Musallam wrapped up his remarks saying that directives were given to help the pilgrims to finish their travel procedures as fast as possible، with an unprecedented rate for travel and arrival date punctuality of 99.9%.
Muslim pilgrims often perform Umrah during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar، Ramadan – which is associated with pious and charitable activities.
Umrah and Hajj seasons are regulated by the Saudi authorities to ensure that the holy sites and lodging in Makkah and Madinah are able to accommodate millions of visitors.
