Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdul Ghaffar met Friday British ambassador in Cairo John Casson، to discuss ways of boosting cooperation between the two countries، especially in the education.
The meeting shed light on means of increasing scholarships in Newton-Mosharafa program، boosting joint research between Egyptian and British universities and benefiting from the British expertise in education.
The minister stressed Egypt's keenness to support cultural and scientific cooperation with Britain، as well as strengthening the partnership between Egyptian and British educational and research institutions.
Both sides discussed means of establishing branches of British universities in Egypt with the aim of keeping pace with the British education standards worldwide، increasing the number of Egyptian students in British universities in the UK and ways of facilitating the procedures for their stay، and overcoming all the difficulties Egyptian students face.
For his part، the British ambassador briefed the minister on the activities of the British Council in Egypt and its affiliated centers، which included teaching English to Egyptians.
Casson stressed on his country’s keenness to continue cooperating with Egypt in various scientific projects، pointing out Britain’s aim to promote and encourage bilateral cooperation with Egypt during the next stage.
