Social networks halt causes panic among Egypt’s citizens

Facebook has seen panic among users as soon as the application of the WhatsApp was down for more than an hour، bringing the attention of the entire community to the great importance of social networking sites in recent times.

Sada ElBalad interviewed the fuming users, about their opinion on the crash down، and about if they would return to using the old means of communication with their friends.

H.A ,56, responded that his work would end if these sites disappeared، it was not just a means for entertaining or communication with family and friends، but a way to earn a living، for some.

M.S، a middle school student، said that he can not imagine his life without Facebook and WhatsApp because he was among the generation who grew up and found these sites among the most important means of communication with friends and family. 

While A.A، said that the disappearance of these sites would be a complete halt for his work، because his work is depended on it، pointing out that his work in tourism requires him to deal daily with Facebook and whatsapp as well as any other social networking sites that enables him to attract the largest number of customers from the users of these sites.

M.M، at the high school، said that he would not be able to live without social networking sites، nor will he be able to stop using it and return to using mobile texting، telegrams and other old messaging ways.

The Facebook-owned Messaging App is among the most popular communications tools in the world، with more than one billion users. The app stopped working around 4:50 p.m. ET on Wednesday. 

Messaging app WhatsApp was back in service late on Wednesday after a global outage knocked the 1.2 billion-member service offline across the world for several hours.
