National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) supervisor-general، Mahrous Said announced that the museum will host from 16 to18 May the celebration of the Egyptian Committee of International Council (CIPEG) of International Museum Day، under the auspices of Minister of Antiquities، Dr. Khalid al-Anani.
Egyptian museums will mark the celebration by making museum entrance free، which annually occurs on May 18.
The celebration events will begin with a lecture given by Executive Vice Director of the Kyoto Museum in Japan، Yuji Kurihara، about museums in Japan as well as on Kyoto City preparations for International Conference of the International Council of Museums General Assembly، scheduled in 2019.
The celebration will include Museum Best Practices Awards for 2016، in addition to lectures and seminars given by the experts and academics from various museums، holding oral heritage as its theme.
The Museum of Nubia، in Aswan، will hold a seminar on the evening of 18 May، attended by the Minister of Antiquities Dr. Khalid Al Anani، and various others as well.
This celebration comes under the Ministry of Antiquities tradition's to encourage Egyptians to visit museums، in order to introduce them to their heritage and to upraise their archaeological awareness، which will happen by believing in the educational role played by the Egyptian museums as one of the most important state institutions.
