US President Donald Trump will ask Israel to curb 'settlement activity' in Judea and Samaria during his visit next week، the Jerusalem Post reported Thursday evening، as Arutz Sheva said. A senior White House official told the Jerusalem Post that Trump will repeat his desire for Israel to "hold back" on building new homes for Jews in Judea and Samaria، and will ask that Israel acknowledge that his position has been heard. According to the official، Trump will not present his own peace plan during his two-day visit to Israel. "This is not a trip in which the president comes and says، ‘here's my peace plan،’” the official said. “We’re not looking at something formal yet– perhaps down the road.” The official added that Trump believes it is "too early" to begin direct peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority، and that those talks will not take place during or immediately following his visit. An administration official told Arutz Sheva earlier that Trump had refused to meet PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas in Ramalah، and would instead meet with Abbas in Bethlehem. According to the official، a meeting in Ramallah would be making a statement، and the President’s advisers have recommended against any statement that could be interpreted in undesirable ways.
