White House special envoy Jason Greenblatt will pitch a Middle East peace summit to Israeli and Palestinian Authority leaders during his trip to Israel this week، as Arutz Sheva said.

Greenblatt، who will be joining President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and Senior Advisor to the President Jared Kushner during meetings with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas، is expected to invite the two leaders to a US-hosted peace summit which will be held in the next three months.

The summit’s ultimate goal will be the formal renewal of negotiations between Israel and the PA.

Kushner and Greenblatt will meet with the Israeli and PA leaders one month after President Trump’s trip to Israel and his own meetings with both Netanyahu and Abbas.

Greenblatt confirmed via Twitter on Monday that he would be joining Kushner for the talks.

“Excited to be traveling back to Israel and the Pal. Territories to continue the discussion about the possibility of peace.”

President Trump has pledged to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table، after a three-year hiatus in peace talks.

"President Trump has made it clear that working towards achieving a lasting peace agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians is a top priority for him. He strongly believes that peace is possible،" a White House official said on Sunday، according to Reuters.

The efforts by Kushner and Greenblatt to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table are being led by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and White House National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster، Reuters reported.
