18،000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt since January

Chinese tourists to Egypt rank fourth in terms of number since the beginning of 2017، said Tourism Adviser at the Egyptian Embassy in Beijing Abul Maati Shaarawy، state-run MENA reported.
In press statements on Monday، Shaarway said that the number of Chinese tourists who visited Egypt from January to May 2017 reached 18،000، marking a 94 percent rise in comparison with 2016.
Chinese tourists spent 850،000 tourist nights in Egypt from January to May 2017، compared to 161،000 tourist nights in the corresponding period in 2016، Shaarway added.
He further underlined that the number of weekly flights between Egypt and China will be increased.
Talks are underway with the Chinese Civil Aviation Ministry to operate two or three weekly flights between Cairo and Shanghai، Shaarway said.
He further expected an agreement to be reached in this regard in September to coincide with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's planned visit to China during which he will attend the 9th BRICS Summit، set for Xiamen of Fujian province from September 3 to 5.
Also، Egypt and China will sign two agreements; the first will be signed by the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Authority، the government of Ningxia and Ningxia tourism bureau and the second between two archaeological cities in Egypt and China's Ningxia، Shaarway said.
On July 13، the new Egyptian charter airline "Air Leisure" will start a new direct route between Xi’an، capital of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province، and Egypt's Aswan city، Shaarway added.
