Sri Lanka’s tourist arrivals were up 4.5 percent to 123،351 in June 2017 from a year earlier، as arrivals continued to rise for the second consecutive month following the opening of the airport after renovations to the runway، lanka business online reported.
In the first six months of the year arrivals were up 4.8 percent to 1.01 million، data from the state tourism promotion office showed.
Visitors from India did not show a significant improvement with arrivals up 2.8 percent to 27،836 from June last year.
Chinese arrivals also dipped in the month of June 2017 to 28،643، a 13.8 percent drop from a year earlier. In the first six month however arrivals were up 1.4 percent to 134،744.
However، arrivals from Western Europe rose 12.3 percent to 33،228 with UK arrivals up 10.8 percent to 10،424 and Germany up 28.6 percent to 7،024.
