Tips to survive extreme heat wave

Meteorologists expected, few days ago,  more hot weather to prevail across all parts of Egypt.

 

The current heatwave will end on Wednesday, hence, the Maximum temperature predicted for Cairo is 35 C.

 

The Maximum temperature on Tuesday will be 41 C.

 

The months of July and August are the hottest months of the year، due to the significant rise in temperature، Meteorologist، Waheed Saudi revealed.


These are Tips to survive extreme heat wave

1- Escape hot places with high humidity

During the past days، the temperature and humidity have reached very high levels that some bodies are not able to handle، causing the body to lose salts and dehydrate.

2- Avoid direct exposure to sun.


Meteorologists warned against going out during afternoon hours as well as to stay away from hot winds. They said that picnicking during peak hours could result in serious health risks.

3- Focus on drinking cold water 


Cold water is “very important” during this hot weather to balance body temperature and get rid of health damage caused by exposure to soaring temperature.

4- Lemonade is your friend


Drinking cold lemonade is useful for hydrating the body.

5- Umbrella and hats are your defense if you must venture out

For people who are compelled to leave their homes at peak hours، they should be careful to cover their heads by wearing hats and using umbrellas to avoid sunstrokes.


5- Fruits and vegetables are useful to avoid dehydration

Dermatologists said that eating pineapple، as well as cucumber throughout the day is extremely useful when exposed to high temperatures. 
Other types of fruits with high water content like orange، cantaloupe، Apricot، kiwi، grapes، melon and fig are also important to moisturize and hydrate bodies.

6- For women in Hijab، wear a cotton veil


Hijabi women، constituting a majority of the Egyptian population، are advised to wear veils made of cotton، and to bath and wash their hair before exposure to the sun.

7- Children and pregnant women should sit out the heat if possible.

Children and pregnant women are highly advised to stay at home on hot days and to avoid going out in the sun and to wear loose clothes.

8- Seek help if you suspect sunstroke

There are some steps to be followed in case a child suffers sunstroke: 
*Doctors advise to make a sick child lie on his back، raise his legs upward and apply a cold compress. 
*Bathe the injured child in cold water. 
*Place the child in front of air coolers. 
* In case the child fainted، he should be immediately transferred to hospital.
