Around 39 passengers were rescued without any injuries on Monday after a fire ripped through tourist boat "Scuba Scene” in Northern Hurghada، in the Red Sea Governorate.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of maritime rescue association and environmental protection in the Red Sea، Hassan Al-Tayeb، stated that the association received a distress call reporting the accident.
He added that the 39 passengers including 29 tourists and 15 Egyptians.
The cruise was canceled and they returned safely to marina resort town within two hours.
Red Sea resorts are a key tourist attraction in Egypt. The sector has yet to recover from three years of political unrest that has sapped one of the economy's main sources of foreign currency.
