Cheap prices are beating fear، according to data provided by the Egyptian Tourism Authority on Italian tourism in Egypt، according to media reports.
Low-cost carriers and charter flights are popular choices for tourists and the Egyptian Tourism Authority has signed a subsidy program with them، as explained to ANSAmed by the authority's president، Hisham El Demery.
''Over 90% of Italians travelling to Egypt use charter flights and now low cost'' companies، he said، with most packages including flights and hotels.
At the end of October، according to authority sources، Air Cairo should start operating a flight between Milan's Malpensa airport and Sharm el Sheikh. The carrier owned by Egyptair، the National Bank of Egypt and Banque Misr - which provides weekly flights from Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh to several European cities like Stuttgart، Hannover، Dusseldorf، Copenhagen، Oslo، Billund، Belgrade، Tbilisi and Prague - could enter the Italian market. El Demery said the Italian market is ''very important for us''.
Two promotional campaigns in September 2016 and June 2017، he stressed، ''led Italian tourists to choose to return to us''.
''I am extremely confident in data on July and August and that of next winter''، he concluded.
A reported 18،000 Italians visited Egypt in June، according to the latest data، compared to the over 89،000 Germans and over 23،000 Americans out of a total number of 532،000 visitors.
Meanwhile، the director of the Egyptian Tourism Agency in Italy، Emad Fathy، said we ''have not registered cancellations in reservations'' after the attack on July 14 in Hurghada on the Red Sea in which two Germans and a Czech tourist died.
