Egyptian Engineer Tarek Ahmed Abdel Hamid also known as Tarek el-Henawy was killed by an Italian tourist in Red Sea resort of Marsa Alam on Friday
Tarek was an engineering supervisor at a hotel in Marsa Alam where the Italian tourist stays.
Eyewitnesses said that the incident began when the Italian tourist was stopped by workers from entering a restricted under construction area, the tourist did not approve; they had to call a supervisor. The workers called engineer Tarek el-Henway and informed him, Tarek spoke with the tourist on the worker’s phone and warned him of how dangerous it is to enter the area, again the tourist did not approve.
“Due to the tourist’s stubbornness, the engineer had to go himself and talk to him; they had a dispute that made the tourist beat the engineer. Tarek bled much and was reportedly dead after few minutes,” they added.
The Egyptian prosecution ordered to detain the Italian tourist pending investigations for beating an Egyptian to death in Red Sea resort of Marsa Alam on Friday, according to a statement by the tourism ministry.
