The organization، which includes 35 member states from Latin America، Central America، the Caribbean، Canada and the US، will cooperate with Israel in fields of innovation، cyber defense، water management and crisis response، as Ynet said.
Israel and the Organization of American States (OAS) signed a joint declaration Thursday on cooperation in the fields of innovation، cyber defense، water management and crisis response.
The declaration was signed during a meeting in Jerusalem between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and OAS Secretary General، Luis Almagro.
The two discussed deepening cooperation between Israel and the 35 member states of the OAS، in particular with the Latin American bloc.
Israel has observer status at the organization، which includes Latin American، Central American and Caribbean countries as well as Canada and the United States.
During his visit، Almagro met with senior officials at the National Cyber Authority to examine the possibility of Israel providing training for cyber officials in a number of Latin American states.
The former Uruguayan foreign secretary also addressed the Israel Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday night and praised Israel for its dedication to democracy.
“In this region، Israel stands outs as a full-fledged democracy، fully committed to democratic principles، constitutional order and the rule of law،” Almagro said.
