FM, UN envoy discuss efforts to solve Libyan crisis

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Sunday with the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Libya، Ghassan Salamé، who currently visits Cairo to discuss efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis.
The Foreign Ministry Spokesperson، Counselor Ahmed Abu Zeid، stated that Shoukry was keen at the beginning of the meeting to brief the UN Representative on Egypt's vision with regard to the latest developments in Libya on the political and security levels، and the challenges Egypt faces due to the ongoing security chaos in Libya.
He was also acquainted with the results of the contacts and consultations recently conducted by Ghassan Salamé with a number of figures and stakeholders on the Libyan scene، as well as his field visits in a number of Libyan cities، and his contacts with the concerned regional and international parties.
The two sides also discussed means to move ahead with the outcome of the meeting held between the Chairman of the Libyan Presidential Council، Fayez Al-Sarraj، and the Commander of the Libyan National Army، General Khalifa Haftar، later last month in France، in order to achieve national reconciliation and mend fences between the various Libyan factions. -SIS
