Egypt’s Chief of Staff Mahmoud Higazi met today with Military Adviser for Peacekeeping operations in the United Nations Lt. General Carlos Humberto Loitey who’s currently visiting Egypt.
The meeting dealt with a number of issues related to the Egyptian participation in the United Nations’ Peacekeeping forces and its efforts to achieve security and peace at the regional and international levels.
Higazi stressed that Egypt was among the first countries to participate in supporting the United Nations in peacekeeping operations since the early 60s and is still actively participating.
He said that the Egyptian armed forces are ready to continue cooperating and sharing their capabilities and expertise with the UN in this regard.
For his part, Military Adviser for Peacekeeping Operations Lt. General Carlos Humberto Loitey praised the outstanding level of the Egyptian forces participating in the United Nations peacekeeping forces and their active roles in supporting the UN to achieve peace internationally.
