Foreign Minister Sameh Shuokry left for London today، Wednesday، in a two-day visit to Britain to participate in the 6-nation ministerial meeting on the crisis in Libya، which begins in the coming hours.
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said the meeting would be attended by foreign ministers from the United States، the United Kingdom، France، Italy and the United Arab Emirates، as well as Libya UN envoy Ghassan Salama.
He added that the aim of the meeting is to identify Ghassan Salama's vision regarding the latest developments in Libya and review the results of the consultations conducted by the UN envoy with various Libyan parties as well as his regional and international contacts.
The meeting will also tackle coordinating efforts and moves by regional and international parties to end the division and enhance consensus & national reconciliation in Libya.
On the other hand، the Foreign Ministry Spokesman pointed out that the meeting is being held on the basis of a British initiative، aimed at channeling efforts to achieve national reconciliation in Libya prior to the High Level Meeting on Libya، which will be convened upon the request of the Secretary General of the United Nations on the sidelines of the General Assembly Of the United Nations.
