Social media activists shared a video features Essam el-Erian، a leading Muslim Brotherhood member and the then-adviser to the former president، completely rejecting the demands of a person to release the former President Hosni Mubarak for reasons relating to mercy.
One of the people told el-Erian that many citizens want the release of Mubarak as a kind of mercy because of his old age. However، el-Erian، as he appears in the video، rejected the demand، saying: "Mubarak will not get out of jail. He will only come out of jail for his grave،" he said.
This video represents a response from el-Erian to those who criticize the death of Mahdi Akef in the jail.
On Friday، Mohammed Mahdi Akef، a former leader of Egypt’s outlawed Muslim Brotherhood who had been detained since 2013، died in a hospital in Cairo. He was 89.
Akef headed the Muslim Brotherhood from 2004 to 2010.
Noteworthy، Muslim Brotherhood group was classified as a terrorist organization following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi.
