The foreign ministers of the three countries، Egypt، Cyprus and Greece، held a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The meeting was on views of continuing consultations on ways to strengthen their cooperation، the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean region and ways to achieve security and stability in the face of the growing crises in the region.
Ergypt Foreign Minister، Sameh Shoukry، expressed Egypt's aspiration to the participation of Greek and Cypriot youth representatives in the International Youth Conference to be held in Sharm El-Sheikh. Egypt's Foreign Ministry Spokesman، Ahmed Abu Zeid، said that the ministers stressed the importance of strengthening mechanisms of dialogue and understanding among youth sectors in the three countries..
The ministers also agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation in the economic and trade fields، combating terrorism and strengthening the mechanisms of dialogue with the European Union، as well as consultation and exchange of evaluation among them on various issues and challenges related to the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean region.
In this context، the foreign ministers of Greece and Cyprus paid tribute to Egypt's role in settling the Palestinian issue، supporting the peace process and achieving Palestinian reconciliation.
The three Ministers also addressed the importance of cooperation in the field of tourism and transport، and the need for the Tripartite Commission of Ministers of Tourism and Transport to regularly explore new frameworks for cooperation in this area.
