Astronomer Ahmed Shaheen has raised eyebrows and questions because of his recent remarks about Egypt's participation in the 2018 World Cup.

In a telephone call on Al-Hayat Al-Youm، Shaheen said that although Egypt was qualified for the 2018 World Cup، it would not participate in this World Cup;

He attributed its absence to the break out of a third world war and the spread of demonstrations in Russia against Putin، which will hinder Egypt participation.

The astronomer noted that Ghana and Uganda match will be replayed in the qualifying stage for the World Cup، pointing out that there are many surprises will occur from today until the World Club in Russia if it was held.

Noteworthy, On Sunday match Egypt won 2-1 over Congo. Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah scored the opener in the match’s 62 minute، he received the high ball، passing by speed and put Congolese defender in his back، in a preferable one-v-one situation، Salah eased the ball over the goalkeeper to the net.

Egypt was hit by an equalizer in the 82nd minute as Congo's Arnold Bouka dampened spirits in Alexandria.

In a dramatic turn of events، Egypt were awarded a penalty after 2 minutes of the 5-minute stoppage time، Salah again rise to shine to become the hero and secure Egypt’s ticket in 2018 World Cup، even before playing Ghana away.

Following the victory، Egypt is now four points ahead of second-placed Uganda in African qualifying Group E with just one match remaining.
