Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahemd Al Tayeb congratulated on Thursday the Palestinian people after a reconciliation was reached between the disputed factions Fatah and Hamas، and ending the division that lasted more than a decade، praising what Fatah and Hamas showed up for the sake of Palestinian state interest.
Al Tayeb praised the pivotal and historical role played by the Egyptian state under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi، and middling to achieve the reconciliation، which is consistent with the historic role of Egypt in supporting the Palestinian cause.
Al-Azhar called upon the Palestinian people push forward towards the unity and reconciliation، and to reject all that leads to division and division، so that all efforts can be united to support the national cause to establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Earlier on Thursday، Hamas and Fatah have signed a reconciliation deal in Cairo، ending a decade-long rift between the two Palestinian factions.
The deal is believed to cover security، administrative and border crossing arrangements in the Gaza Strip.
