Spokesman for Red Sea Ports Authority، Malak Youssef announced Friday that Nuweiba Port is preparing to receive ‘Sina’ ferry، carrying 314 passengers on board.
The port received ‘Ayla’ and ‘Sina’ ferries yesterday، carrying 318 passengers on board.
Noteworthy، Nuweiba is a coastal town in the eastern part of Sinai Peninsula، Egypt. Located on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba.
However، Nuwaiba port is located on the western coast of Akaba bay، approximately by 168 km. North of Sharm El-Sheikh، and 64 km. south of Taba.
The Port was built in 1985 on the Gulf of Aqaba، and serves as a ferry port as well، which allows for easy travel between Jordan and Egypt.
The port’s services include bunkering and supplies، such as fresh water، solar، diesel، oils، fuel، heavy fuel، machinery requirements، pilotage and tugging، food، buntering vessels، spare parts، fumigation، waste water reception، light fuel، ship accommodation and repair، in addition to cleaning، according to Maritime Transport Sector (MTS).
Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority Authority- signed two contracts with the Arab Contractors Co. in order to develop the ports of El Adabey and Nuweiba.
The development plan aims at raising the quality of the services provided to minor pilgrimage passengers، pilgrims and tourists as well as the establishment of terminals for passengers arrival departure according to the latest technologies and re-planning the ports to operate in the transport of passengers and cargo handling for the benefit of national economy.
Notable، Egypt is a maritime country that has a remarkable geographical location on the junction of three continents and has coasts up to 2000km on the Mediterranean and the Red Sea which allowed its connection with the foreign world since ancient ages.
Moreover a vital artery – Suez Canal- passes through its land linking the East to the West which is Suez Canal. The foreign seaborne trade volume of Egypt represents about 90% of the Egyptian foreign trade volume. Since the maritime transport process became a complicated industry it was indispensable to develop this industry through a well-defined strategic goal.
