Egypt’s Cabinet، headed by Prime Minister Sherif Ismail، denounced the recent Sinai attack، which targeted stationed troops and checkpoint، as “cowardly،” praising the sacrifices made by army soldiers to confront terrorism with all courage and valor.
In a statement on Wednesday، Cabinet expressed sincere condolences to the families of army heroes، stressing that the malicious attempts of cowardly terrorism will not succeed in stopping the process of construction and development.
it added that such attack would stimulate continuous hard work to achieve all hopes and aspirations of the Egyptian people for a better future.
Four Egyptian policemen and two civilians were killed and 22 others were injured in an attack by militants on a security post in North Sinai province on Monday، according to reports.
Egyptian security forces have for years battled militants in northern Sinai، which borders the Gaza Strip and Israel.
The insurgency there has gained momentum after former president Mohamed Morsi was ousted amid mass protests in 2013.
The insurgency is led by a local affiliate of the Islamic State group
