On Friday، Prosecutor General Nabil Sadek ordered the detention of Abdel Rahim Mohammed Abdullah Mesmari (a Libyan national) who was recently arrested for being involved in the terrorist attack that left At least 14 police officers killed and 8 others injured in Al-Bahariya Oasis last October، for 15 days.
The Prosecutor General also ordered the detention of 14 other defendants for being involved in Al-Bahariya Oasis terrorist attack، for 15 days.
At least 14 police officers were killed while 8 others were injured in a shoot-out during a raid on a suspected militant hideout in Al-Bahariya Oasis، located in Egypt's Western Desert and part of Giza governorate.
Noteworthy، Egyptian army has struggled to crush militant violence based in Sinai، which has killed hundreds of police and troops and at times expanded to mainland cities including Cairo.
Egyptian military and security forces have been battling a dangerous insurgency in the north of the peninsula since the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi in June 2013.
The terrorist militants have launched several major attacks، most recently targeting Cairo and other cities with the loss of dozens of lives.
