Former Israeli Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Ehud Barak said on Channel 2 News he is، with certainty، "more fit and qualified to lead Israel than any other candidate، including (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu."
Barak also presented the findings of a survey from several months ago، according to which he had overtaken incumbent Prime Minister Netanyahu among Israel's secular public.
Responding to questions on his "tweet policy"، the former head of the Labor Party replied، "That is the most direct and convenient course of action at this juncture. It's not secret many people have approached me pleading with me to start organizing or founding something."
"I also have a survey. Someone sent me a huge survey. I have no idea who's behind it، but it begs the question: 'If there were direct elections for prime minister، would you vote for Netanyahu or Barak?'" Barak pondered.
"I'm ahead of Netanyahu among the secular public. When you look at the general public he's ahead، with a slightly bigger margin even، but neither one of us reaches 40 percent. 35 percent of the public is undecided. And that's when Bibi is the sitting prime minister، after numerous corruption scandals، and Barak is a citizen who's tweeting،" Barak said، adding the survey was taken four months ago.
"I lack enough humility to point out that as far as record، experience، international recognizability، intimate knowledge of security issues، statesmanship، economy and so on، I'm more fit and qualified to lead Israel than any other candidate، including Netanyahu، who's experienced but lacks decision making capabilities،" Barak concluded.
