Egypt’s President Abdul Fattah Al Sisi is due to fly to the Cypriot capital of Nicosia on Monday in an official two-day visit، during which he will participate in the Tripartite summit between Egypt، Cyprus and Greece.
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radhi said that the president is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis and senior Cypriot officials to discuss means of enhancing bilateral relations at all levels.
The talks come in the framework of close relations between Egypt and Cyprus and the distinguished joint cooperation for intensive consultation on issues of common concern.
The upcoming tripartite meeting will be the fifth such meeting between El-Sisi، Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades، and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in recent years.
The first meeting was held in Cairo in November 2014، the second in Nicosia in April 2015 and the third in Athens in December 2015.
During the fourth tripartite summit in Cairo last year، the three countries agreed to work together to stop irregular migration، putting the issue as a priority.
The discussions also involved talks on energy، preserving the ecosystem in the Mediterranean، and activating maritime transport between the three countries.
In recent months، meeting between officials of the three countries have taken place in preparation for the November summit، the latest being a meeting between the three ministers in September on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
