President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Minister of Finance Amr Al-Garhi.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Finance Minister Ahmed Kajok and Assistant Minister of Finance for Economic Affairs Sheren Al-Sharkawy.
Ambassador Bassam Radi، official spokesman for the Presidency، said that during the meeting، they have reviewed the various indicators of financial and economic performance. The Finance Minister indicated that the economic situation has gradually improved as a result of the measures taken by the government under the economic reform program.
The Minister pointed to the second periodic review conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission، which concluded that the policies adopted by the Egyptian government are moving in the right track.
The Minister reviewed the most positive results that have already been achieved. He pointed out to the high growth rates during the final quarter of 20162017 amounting to 4.8% and the decline in unemployment rates reaching 11.9% in June 2017 compared to 12.7% in June 2016.
For his part، Finance Minister Amr al-Garhi said that the ministry is keen to continue the implementation of reform measures، which contribute to further redress in the State budget deficit and reduce the ratio of government debt. He added that these steps would enhance confidence in the Egyptian economy and solidify the stability of macroeconomic indicators.
