Lebanese President، Michel Aoun has received on Wednesday outgoing Prime Minister، Saad El-Hariri at Baabda palace، in Beirut.
Saad al-Hariri attended earlier today، Wednesday independence day celebrations in Beirut after returning to Lebanon for the first time since resigning as prime minister in a broadcast from Saudi Arabia.
Hariri، whose sudden resignation on Nov. 4 pitched Lebanon into crisis، flew into Beirut late on Tuesday. He stood alongside President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at a military parade in central Beirut.
Noteworthy، The outgoing Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri left Cairo on Tuesday heading to Beirut on a private plane after a brief visit to Egypt during which he met with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and discussed the latest developments in the region and Lebanon.
The five-member delegation accompanying Hariri where received at presidential lounge at Cairo airport before departure.
Al-Hariri thanked Egypt and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi for his support for Lebanon and stability. He said he would participate in the Lebanese celebrations on Independence Day. Hariri's visit to Cairo follows two weeks of deep uncertainty after he announced his resignation on November 4 in a speech from Saudi Arabia. He has said he will return to Lebanon by Wednesday.
A message on Hariri's Twitter account said he would meet and then dine with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi، who has sought to ease the tensions between Hariri's sponsors in Saudi Arabia and the powerful Lebanese Hezbollah and its Iranian patrons.
Sisi's office said he received a phone call from Lebanese President Michel Aoun in which they discussed "the importance of preserving Lebanon's stability and elevating Lebanon's national interests."
