French Ambassador to Cairo Stephan Roumtier، said that Egypt is proceeding with a long-term development plan and the creation of new cities that are sustainable and sophisticated، adding that there is an urgent need to develop modern means of transport to connect Cairo with these new cities.
In a statement to the Middle East News Agency on the sidelines of the Second Urban Transport Forum "Towards Effective Transport for Sustainable Development"، which is being held in Cairo and organized by the French Agency for Development in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport، the French ambassador added that the establishment of modern and sustainable transport needs considerable time. The Egyptian government is currently implementing these projects.
Roumatier noted that the establishment of such modern means aims not only to solve traffic problems and congestion، but also to preserve the environment and reduce pollution from vehicle emissions.
He pointed out that the agreement signed today between the French Agency for Development and the Egyptian Ministry of International Cooperation aims to reach radical solutions to the problems of traffic in major cities such as Cairo and Alexandria.
