Dr. Nevin Kabbaj، First Assistant of Social Solidarity Minister for social protection programs، said that the ministry decided to carry out medical re-examination operations for 1.3 million people with disabilities who benefit from the Ministry’s social solidarity programs Takaful and Karama “Solidarity and Dignity” to ensure their eligibility for the Ministry’s support. This came after including a new mechanism for the assessment of disability in accordance with international standards in this regard.
In statements to the Middle East News Agency (MENA)، Kabbaj said that the coming period will witness an intensive review of beneficiaries of the ministry’s programs to ensure their eligibility. She added that a large number were excluded from receiving support offered by the ministry. She added that the Solidarity Ministry signed a protocol of cooperation with the Ministry of Health to train 125 doctors distributed nationwide on the new mechanism for assessing the extent of disabilities.
She added that the ministry has already begun to carry out re-examination processes in 19 governorates، noting it is scheduled to hold a meeting with the Health Ministry to increase the number of doctors in all governorates.
