Head of the Independent General Tourism Workers Syndicate، Bassem Halaqa told Sputnik News Agency that about three million Russian tourists would visit Egypt in 2018.
In exclusive statements to Sputnik، he added that the number of Russian tourists coming to Egypt is expected to reach 3 million tourists in 2018.
He added that the return of flights between Egypt and Russia would contribute to restoring many economical indicators to normal levels، as Russian tourism constitutes 55% of tourist occupancy rates in Egypt. He pointed out that the Egyptian government should provide more support to the Egyptian tourism sector so that it can overcome the major obstacles and crises facing it over the last years، especially after the suspension of flights between Egypt and Russia in the wake of the Russian plane crash in Sinai.
Halaqa called on the Egyptian banks to implement the Central Bank of Egypt’s governor directives regarding granting loans to tourism companies، pointing out to the need to renew tourist facilities in full، in preparation for receiving Russian tourists in the coming period.
He stressed the importance of maintaining security in airports and tourist places، confirming that the Egyptian government has been able to provide maximum safety levels in airports and tourist areas in the last two years.
Noteworthy Egyptian minister of civil aviation signed last Thursday a protocol for the return of flights between Cairo and Moscow، days after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his country's readiness to resume flights to Egypt.
