Indian company H-Bots Robotics launched its new fully automated 'Robocop' robot in Hyderabad on Wednesday، Rubtly reported.
The bot will be designed to aid the police and public in day-to-day tasks. It boasts the ability to direct traffic، handle basic security issues and can even be used by members of the public to call for further law enforcement through its on-board digital interface.
The beta version of the world's first smart policing robot، inspired by the Dubai's robocop، was launched in Hyderabad on Friday by Jayesh Ranjan، Principal Secretary، ITE&C Department. The robocop is the result of
collaborations with numerous India and Hyderabad based startups. It can function automatically، inform its creators. "Our robot is head to toe made in India at an economical price of `45 lakhs which is mainly for the R&D. The next batches can be produced in `5-20 lakh range،" said Kisshhan PSV، founder of the firm that designed the bot. So when can we see this one of a kind robocop on the streets? The final product would be ready by July 2018 says Kisshhan.
"We are yet to initiate talks with Hyderabad police، but in its present version itself it can make calls to Hyderabad police، She Teams and even register complaints and provide token numbers for the the complainant to follow up. It also has a unique feature of recording 360 degree footage at its eye level، which can be useful in places like airport، metro stations etc where high traffic movement occurs،" he says، adding، "These smart policing Robots are not here to replace the police force، rather supplement it in making the city safe."
