The Palestinian Authority has invited U.S Consul in Jerusalem to attend the opening session of the Central Council، Al-Hayat Newspaper reported.
The session will be held tomorrow in Ramallah.
The Palestinian Authority has not break off contacts with Washington، Palestinian official said، according to the newspaper.
A senior official of Palestinian Authority confirmed that it break off contacts with the staff concerned with the political process in U.S، Sawa Palestinian news Agency reported.
Sawa noted that the U.S political process's staff includes the special adviser to US President Jared Kouchner، the special envoy for the peace process Jason Greenblatt، and US ambassador to Israel David Friedman
Sawa’s source added that the Palestinians still maintain official bilateral relations with U.S.
He confirmed that the contacts at the bilateral level have not and will not stop، including official channels and security cooperation، but contacts on the political process completely stopped.
The source pointed out that the Authority has extended invitations to all ambassadors and consuls in Jerusalem and Ramallah، including U.S Consul.
He affirmed that U.S Consul will hear nothing pleased him at the meeting of the Central.
On the 6th of December، Trump decided to move U.S embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. A move that inflamed tensions in the region and destroyed the prospects of peace in the Middle East.
UN General Assembly convened on 21 December for an emergency session، passed a resolution supported by decisive 128 against 9 with 35 abstentions declaring Trump's decision "null and void”.
