Rocket sirens were sounded around the area of Kibbutz Kerem Shalom near the Gaza Strip on Friday night in what the military later said was a false alarm، Haaretz reports
The rocket alert came hours after protests in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank which saw some 46 Palestinians wounded in clashes with Israeli security forces، the Palestinian Health Ministry reported.
In Gaza، 41 people were wounded، many by live gunfire، Palestinian health officials said.
Friday's protests marked the sixth consecutive week of protests sparked by Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Last week three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israeli communities near the border. No casualties were sustained in the attack.
Thirty-five rockets and mortars were fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip in 2017، more than double the previous year’s figure and the highest number since 2014.
Most of the launches – about 30 – occurred after U.S. President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital on December 6، according to data just released by the Israel Defense Forces. However، roughly half those rockets landed inside Gaza.
