Recently re-elected Zamalek president Mourtada Mansour has announced his decision to run for Egypt presidency.
Mansour was recently re-elected as the Whites’ president but looks like that is not enough for him as he decides to run for Egypt’s Presidency.
In a phone conversation with TV host Ahmed Moussa، Mansour said that he is goining to tour Egyptian governorates during the coming period to collect the recommendation forms.
According to the Egyptian law، to be accepted as a candidate for the presidency، candidates must receive the recommendation of at least 20 elected members of the House of Representatives، or support from at least 25،000 citizens eligible to vote in at least 15 governorates، with a minimum of one thousand supporters from each governorate. In all cases، no one person can support more than one candidate.
Mansour said that almost all PMs have supported Sisi to run for a second term except for few.
This is the third time Mansour announces to run for the presidential race، after two failed attempts in 2012 and 2014.
In 2012، Mansour was disqualified along with popularMuslim Brotherhood figures such as Khairat El-Shater and Hazem Salah Abou-Ismail.
In 2014، Mansour withdraws from the presidential race، despite having collected 20،000 recommendation forms، after he had received "a sign from God" that El-Sisi would win the race.
