Egyptian activist Mahinour El-Masry acquitted in illegal protest case

An Alexandria Court of Appeals acquitted activists Mahinour El-Masry and Motasem Medhat who were charged earlier with charges of protesting without permission from authorities.

In December، the court sentenced El-Masry and Medhat for two years in jail and handed four other activists a 3-year jail term in absentia.

El-Masry and Medhat were accused of assembly، protesting، and insulting the president.

El-Masry was arrested after taking part in demonstrations In June، in front of an Alexandria court to protest over parliament debate on the border demarcation agreement، which places the Red Sea islands of Tiran and Sanafir under Saudi control.
