Pope Tawadros II، pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark، said that the Church firm position on the Palestinian Cause stems from its commitment to the requirements of coexistence.

“ The church announced its total rejection of US President Donald Trump decision on Jerusalem، which establishes the judaization of Jerusalem and obliterates the historical nature of Jerusalem”، Pope Tawadros added In his word during “In support of Jerusalem” conference held in Cairo.

Pope Tawardos stressed that the church has not and will not oppose any entity or religion. “It also rejects aggression and oppression and condemns the exploitation of religion to trample on others’ rights”، Pope Tawadros noted.

He also added that the Palestinian issue has cultural and economic dimensions and being limited to the religious dimension only is a harrowing disaster.

Pope Tawadros also stressed that the Church always stands beside those who struggle for their freedom and recognition of their human dignity.

Noteworthy، Egypt’s Al-Azhar holds on Wednesday “In Support of Jerusalem” conference، which attended by officials from 86 countries for backing Jerusalem as the main capital of occupied Palestine، under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.

The conference will tackle three main themes; affirming Jerusalem’s Arab status، raising awareness about the Jerusalem issue، and highlighting the international community's responsibility regarding the holy city.
