Egypt's National Election Authority (NEA) spokesman Mahmoud al-Sherif said on Saturday that the authority was keen to hold a press conference at the beginning of its work to receive applications of those who will run for president in the presidential election.
A committee was formed to receive and check up the applications، al-Sherif added the press conference pointing out that the committee begins its work today and lasts for 10 days until next January 29.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced on Friday that he will run for a second term in the country's presidential elections that will take place in March.
Sisi made the announcement during “Story Of Homeland” televised conference in Cairo on Friday where he stressed the importance of citizens voting.
There was a strong demand by the citizens and celebrities of the community to sign the petitions of "In order to build it" campaign، which calls on President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi to run for a second term.
Egypt's presidential election is to take place on March 26-28، the National Election Authority said.
