MP Tariq Radwan، head of the Parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee، held a meeting today Sunday with ambassador of Portugal in Cairo Madeleine Fischer.
At the beginning of the meeting، Radwan welcomed the Portuguese ambassador، stressing the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields. He pointed out there are many issues of common concern between the two countries on the regional and international arenas.
For her part، the Portuguese Ambassador valued Egypt's efforts in its fight against terrorism، as well as for achieving stability in the region.
The visit comes a head of Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa’s visit to Egypt. She expressed her aspirations to the Portuguese President’s visit to the Egyptian Parliament.
Fischer expressed her desire to establish an Egyptian-Portuguese Parliamentary Friendship Society to support cooperation between the two countries in the parliamentary field، especially since the Portuguese-Egyptian Parliamentary Friendship Society was formed in the Portuguese Parliament.
Radwan promised to convey this desire to the Parliament Speaker.
