Japan’s ambassador to Cairo Takehiro Kagawa expressed his happiness to attend the ceremony held by Antiquities ministry on transferring Ramses II statue to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) Entrance. He added that Japan has been working for a long time in the GEM project، which will be inaugurated in part this year، confirming Japan’s keenness to complete the project as soon as possible.
In an interview with the privately owned OnLive” TV satellite channel on Thursday، the ambassador added that Japanese government has provided financial support estimated at $ 800 million، in addition to cooperating with the Ministry of Antiquities in the restoration of monuments and the management of the GEM project. He pointed out that the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) is a very important project to promote the Egyptian tourism.
He pointed out that Japan has provided the latest technological equipment to the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)، noting that the GEM project is one of the largest projects in which Japan has ever participated. He added that the Japanese people love the Egyptian civilization and monuments، pointing out to their keenness to visit Egypt every year.
