Antiquities minister discusses developing St. Catherine Monastery in South Sinai

Dr Khalid El Enany، Minister of Antiquates and Maj. Gen. Khalid Fouda، Governor of South Sinai Governorate discussed the next steps to develop St. Catherine Monastery.
The two ministers also discussed completing the antique bibliotheca of that Monastery.
It is worth to mention that the firsr part of the library was opened last month.
A number of CCTV were installed inside the monastery to secure the tourists.
South Sinai Governorate and the Ministry of Antiquities will fund restoration and maintenance at that monastery.
Maj. Gen. Fouda said that he will accompany a host of local officials to meet Minister of the Local Development to discuss problems of South Sinai.

The monastery lies on the Sinai Peninsula، at the mouth of a gorge at the foot of Mount Sinai، in the city of Saint Catherine. Egypt in the South Sinai Governorate.
It is controlled by the autonomous Church of Sinai، part of the wider Eastern Orthodox Church، and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It was built between 548 and 565.
It was touted as one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world
