The 49th Cairo International Book Fair: What to expect in this year's edition

Dr. Inas Abdel Dayam، Minister of Culture opened on Friday the 49th edition of the Book Fair (CIBF)، at the Cairo International Convention Centre، in Nasr City، where it has witnessed a high turnout of Egyptians for the first two days.
Information Center of the cabinet launched a hashtag to encourage citizens to partake in the Book Fair through #Reading_Is_Life hashtag.
Cabinet called on all brackets of the Egyptian people to partake Book Fair.
The 49th Cairo International Book Fair (CIBF) runs from January 26 to February 10 at the Fair Grounds in Nasr City. CIBF's theme for the year is "Soft Power: How?”
The 49th edition will host a lot of new activities for the first time، such as establishing theaters، cinema halls and fine arts halls، in addition to increasing the number of books dedicated to children.
It compromises 1194 pavilions along 117 stands to sell the books.
In this edition 27 nations will participate in the Book Fair، with Algeria as the guest of honor of this edition.
The Egyptian General Book Authority (EGBA) has decided to allow a free entry to the kids under 12 years and martyrs’ families.
In a book fair attended by more than 300 thousand people on its first day، according to Dr. Haytham Al Haj Ali، detective stories and horror novels is the first hit for the young adults partaking in the book fair.
A large number of these genres were found at the Libraries for Children and Young Adults Section، which is keen to provide them with attractive content books.
On top of this list of these novels are "Like Icarus" by Ahmed Khaled Tawfiq and the third part of Nader Fouda novel by Ahmed Younis.
The CIBF will Film screen a number of films including، the rare Arabic dubbed version film 1963 "Garema ala difaf el Nel" in the first Japanese-Arab joint production، starring Egypt’s iconic late singer-actress Shadia، and Kamal Al Shennawi، unveiled on the late legend first birthday after her departure.
The late iconic died at the age of 86 after a long battle with the disease، where she was admitted to Galaa military hospital earlier this month after suffering brain stroke on November 28، 2017.Rumors of her health deterioration began to spread in August.

Establish a market for antiquarian booksellers.
Promote all about cultural cooperation between nations and popularize the finest publications.
