A presidential decree has appointed Khairat Mohamed Barakat to be the new head of Egypt’s Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAMPAS)، the official gazette said on Tuesday.
This came in accordance with decision No. 2915 of 1964 regarding the regulations of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAMPAS).
Barakat will succeed Abu Bakr al-Gendy، who was chosen in January as the minister of local development.
CAMPAS is an official statistical agency of Egypt that collects، processes، analyzes، and disseminates statistical data and conducts the census.
The mission of Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics of Egypt is in the production of meaningful statistics which reliably meet the needs of state agencies and the business community، universities and research centers، public and international organizations in accordance with international standards. The objective of the Agency is to build the capacity of workers to produce reliable data in accordance with international and moral standards and in a timely manner to meet the needs of users and to raise statistical awareness of the community.
