Dr. Nabil Rashwan، an expert of international relations، said that Russia’s attempts to be engaged in the Arab Region are natural especially after the vacuum created by the U.S. decision to move its embassy to Jerusalem in a step to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In statements to Sada El-Balad، Rashwan added that Russia is intending to play a main role in solving the Palestinian issue.
He added that the Russian attempts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict conform to some Arab countries’ desire، notably Egypt، in order to reach a final solution on the Palestinian issue especially after U.S. President Donald Trump has lost the confidence of the Arab countries.
.

In a related context، Rashwan expected that the Russian attempts to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would be useless، as there is a key partner in the Arab region and considered one of the main parties in the Palestinian issue.
He pointed out that the Soviet Union has previously sought to resolve the Palestinian issue، but it failed.

It is worth mentioning that Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during the last days.
