Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry arrived in Madrid early this morning for a two-day visit to boost bilateral ties، the ministry's spokesman said.
Shoukry met with Spanish King Felipe VI، during which the Egyptian top diplomat highlighted the distinguished Egyptian-Spanish relations، especially at the economic and political levels.
For his part، King Felipe VI expressed his country's pride for the Egyptian-Spanish partnership، expressing his personal aspiration to visit Egypt as being the only member of the Spanish royal family who has not yet visited Egypt.
The Spanish monarch also expressed condolences over the victims of terrorism، praising the success of the Sinai Comprehensive Operation 2018. In this context، he expressed his admiration for the development of the current military cooperation relations in light of Egypt's vital role and balanced positions as a pillar of regional security and stability.
