Egypt's prosecutor-general Nabil Sadiq issued an arrest warrant against Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh، a former leader of the Muslim Brotherhood، and the leader of centrist Strong Egypt Party.
The warrant also included a number of party’s political bureau members.
Abul Fotouh is facing charges of communicating and delivering an interview with outlawed media outlets.
Abul Fotouh was a frontrunner in the presidential race Egypt’s 2012. Calls and complaints to arrest him were echoed over the past few days after he had appeared in an interview with al-Jazeera channel. Abul Fotouh severely criticized Egypt’s current regime، particularly president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
