Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Soukry met on Saturday with Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei to discuss boosting cooperation between the two countries in various fields، the ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said. The meeting came on the sidelines of Shoukry’s participation in the 54th Munich Security Conference (MSC) in the German city of Munich. Abu Zeid said that the Belarusian Foreign Minister expressed his great happiness on the high level of relations witnessed by the two countries. He also pointed out to the recent visit paid by the Egyptian foreign minister to Belorussia last August. Makei also delivered an invitation sent by the Belarusian President to Abdel Fattah Al Sisi to visit Minsk، the Belarusian capital، this year. On the other hand، Makei expressed his sincere hope that the comprehensive military operation “Sinai 2018” would achieve its desired results to uproot terrorism.
Abu Zeid added that the meeting tackled the efforts exerted by the two countries to push bilateral relations forward in various fields، as the two sides are keen to expand the cooperation frameworks in the political and economic fields as well as in the tourism sector.
Abu Zeid added that the two ministers stressed the importance of continuous coordination between the Egyptian and Belarusian Foreign Ministries to finalize a memorandum of understanding to set a special mechanism of political consultation between the two foreign ministries in the two countries.
